Last night while trying to stay awake at three am, I found a video. A video that is both a lifestyle and life-changing. Perhaps you’ve seen it. But you probably haven’t, which is why I’m writing about it here.
Rich White Ladies, two women hailing from the Bronx in NYC, released “Wimbledon” a week ago. It is so chic and tongue in cheek that I shed a bit of a tear once I finished watching it. The duo, comprised of Tokyo Diva and Scotty Rebel (perfect pop star names, indeed) , are close to being signed to Motown/ Capital and I’m praying their artistic vision will be kept in tact. I’m not quite sure how I feel about the absurd, chirpy rapping for the chorus but I am absolutely here for the lush cinematography and fashion-forward tennis outfits.
The ladies also have a knack for tapping into gay culture in a way that doesn’t beat you over the head which I appreciate, re: sippin’ tea on the courts while rapping about being a bad bitch.
Anyway, please watch the video and share it with your friends. I hope Rich White Ladies go viral with this song. I’ve done my duty by rewatching the video 100 times in the past 24 hours and now it is your turn.
