So this is pretty awesome. This week Wizard World Cinedigm launched ConTV, a multi-platform streaming digital network available on iOS, Android and the web. Think of it as like a free Netflix for nerds. ConTV boasts not only many, many movies and TV shows (over 2,500) but also livestreaming of many pop culture conventions. Some of the best perks of this are livestreams of celebrity panels and Cosplay contests. Viewers can even get a first hand look at after-hour fan events like “Drink & Draw” where creators go head to head in drawing and writing competitions. The service is available 24/7 and the best part is, you can enjoy it for free. Fans who want no ads can purchase a VIP membership which includes no ads and also first dibs on perks at Wizard World conventions.

This is an extremely exciting and genius move for fandoms that could potentially be a big competitor for Netflix and Amazon Prime. A quick scroll through the website proves that there are THOUSANDS of options for fans to choose from. Like anime? Take a look at the entire first season Digimon or Angel Beats. Are you a Johnny Depp fan? 21 Jump Street is available. Like B movies? THOUSANDS are available — many I haven’t even heard of. It’s a pretty mesmerizing collection.

Starting March 9th ConTV will be launching exclusive programming.  This is what will be available to you, via the press release dropped in my email:

· On March 9th, fans will find full vindication for their hours of binge viewing with host and horror icon Bruce Campbell’s new pop-culture trivia game show “Last Fan Standing.” New episodes will release Mondays throughout the spring.
· On March 22nd, all 11 episodes of “Fight of the Living Dead”, the highly anticipated, genre-bending horror/reality series that follows top YouTube celebrities as they struggle to “survive” in a simulated zombie apocalypse, will release exclusively on CONtv.
· The explosive action continues into April with “My Morphing Life,” the pulse-pounding series that centers on the insane real-life adventures of original Green Power Ranger, Jason David Frank.

Feeling intrigued yet? Head over to ConTV’s website and sign up for a membership. I feel like this could be very big in a few months.
